Woodside Fishery is an established fishing complex set within the rolling hills and pasture land of the South Shropshire countryside, on Tenbury Road near Cleobury Mortimer, close to Kidderminster, Worcestershire. The pools are co-owned by brothers Peter and David Hughes and run day to day by fishery manager Ben Hughes, who have worked to create a natural setting away from the typical over-commercialised venue. Established trees, shrubs, reed beds, lily pads and rushes line the banks and margins, and the site is home to a wide range of wildlife including water birds, voles, foxes, deer and birds of prey. Four pools are on offer to both match and pleasure anglers. Woodside Pool (22 pegs) is the longest standing water on site, geared towards match and club anglers, with carp and F1s producing match weights of over 200lb and perch to over 4lb. Island Pool (17 pegs) is deeper and more natural, reaching over 9 feet with a strong head of natural food, holding carp, F1s, skimmer bream, roach, rudd, chub, tench and perch to over 5lb. Charlie's Pool (10 pegs) suits the casual or holiday angler, heavily stocked with carp including koi and grass carp, roach, rudd, skimmer bream and perch to nearly 5lb. House Pool is the venue's dedicated silverfish water, stocked with roach, rudd and skimmer bream, though it is currently closed for ongoing maintenance work. The site offers a purpose-built brick toilet block with separate male and female toilets, electric showers and wash facilities, along with hot and cold food and drink, a private patio and BBQ area, and a large, secure hard-standing car park. Four holiday cabins sit within three acres of undisturbed woodland, sleeping up to six and offered on a self-catering basis with bed linen and towels included. Anglers staying on site pay a fixed day-ticket rate, and fishery feed pellets are sold on site, though the nearest tackle shop is off site in Kidderminster.
