Spanning approximately 4 acres across dimensions of 235 yards long by 100 yards wide, the lake is split by a central island that creates a variety of casting angles and features for anglers to exploit. The clay bottom is interspersed with underwater bars and sunken islands, providing prime spots for bait placement and consistent fish-holding areas throughout the year. With a maximum depth of 6 feet and an average of just 4 feet, Lodge Pool is a shallow, feature-rich water that rewards careful presentation and accurate casting. The lake offers 28 well-spaced pegs across a mixture of bivvy-friendly bark-chipped areas set back from the water, and swims positioned tight to overhanging bushes and reed-lined margins. The central island provides additional casting options and a natural holding area for carp, while the wide, comfortable banks give anglers plenty of room for their setups. Day and night tickets are available, making Lodge Pool accessible for both quick daytime sessions and extended overnight visits. The lake record stands at 30lb 4oz. Lodge Pool is stocked with a strong head of carp providing consistent action with hard-fighting doubles up to 25lb, alongside a thriving population of silver fish including roach, bream, perch and barbel. This dual-species offering makes it one of the most well-rounded day ticket waters in the region, equally suited to the carp angler looking for prolific runs and the match or pleasure angler seeking a busy day on the silvers. The high density of both species ensures bites come regularly throughout the day regardless of conditions. For carp, surface fishing is extremely effective during the warmer months, with floating baits and surface rigs consistently accounting for fish patrolling the upper layers. Feature targeting with a marker rod to locate the bars, sunken islands and marginal shelves is a highly productive approach, and the overhanging bushes and reed-lined banks fish exceptionally well year-round — particularly during quieter periods when carp move tight to cover. Proven bait choices include Mainline Cell and Essential Cell, Sticky Baits, Dynamite Monster Tiger Nut and newer options including DNA Bug and Secret 7. Chod rigs and ronnie rigs handle the clay and feature-rich bottom well, while PVA bags are excellent for pinpoint baiting around the sunken islands and bars.
