Blackthorn Fishery is a premium 3.5 acre specimen carp fishery located near Oswestry in Shropshire, consisting of 2 separate lakes in a truly remote private location. This purpose-built venue caters exclusively to experienced carp anglers seeking quality fishing in peaceful, unspoilt countryside away from modern life pressures. The fishery is home to 110 stunning hand-picked VS Fisheries strain carp up to 49lb, including impressive Mirrors, Commons, Leathers, Linears and Zip Linears with exceptional body shape and fighting ability. The venue offers luxury lakeside accommodation with 4 lodges including the new Blackthorn Pines Cabin with 2 en-suite bedrooms and modern amenities, luxury lakeside lodges with open-plan living areas overlooking the water, and the original log cabin with intimate charm. All lodges feature direct lake access with rods positioned just feet from patio doors, allowing comfortable day and night fishing. With a current lake record of 49lb set in September 2024, the fishery has recorded 57 fish over 30lb, with 12 over 35lb and 5 fish over 40lb. The majority of stock runs 25lb+ with many approaching 30lb. This is not a heavily stocked runs water but a true specimen venue requiring skill and experience. All fish have British heritage from VS Fisheries' sovereign strain combining Suttons, Leneys and Dink Crosses, first stocked in February 2011. Fishing is strictly by appointment only, ensuring privacy and space for all visitors. The venue maintains the highest standards of fish care with comprehensive biosecurity measures and provides professional support including tuition, assistance with specimen fish, and 24/7 availability for record fish.
