About

Cross Drove Fishery is a tranquil and historic fishing destination located on the Norfolk and Suffolk border in the quiet village of Hockwold cum Wilton. Established as a fully operational fishery in 1997, this venue has evolved from humble beginnings as an eel lake into one of the region's premier carp and catfish destinations, now celebrating over 25 years of providing exceptional angling experiences. The fishery features one large, naturally developed lake that offers incredible diversity through its 20+ islands, bridges, mini waterways, and extensive reed beds. With 70 numbered pegs strategically positioned across different sections, each swim provides a unique fishing experience. From wide open waters with easy access to lily pads, to intimate narrow waterways with overhanging bushes and shaded spots, the varied topography ensures every visit presents new challenges and opportunities. The venue is renowned for its impressive catfish population, including the famous "mad cats" that have produced a stunning new lake record of 114lb 14oz. These powerful fish, averaging 40-60lb with specimens regularly exceeding 100lb, provide the ultimate test for specimen hunters. The fishery also holds excellent stocks of carp including F1s, plus quality populations of zander, perch, bream, tench, roach, rudd and eels up to 6lb+. Cross Drove Fishery is perfectly positioned for accessibility, just 7 miles from Brandon, 14 miles from Thetford, and within 15 miles of both the A10 and A11, making it easily reachable from Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire. The rural location ensures perfect fishing conditions with minimal traffic disturbance, while the lush woodland provides natural shelter and enhances the tranquil atmosphere that has attracted anglers for over two decades.
