About
Furnace Mill Fishery stands as one of the West Midlands' premier coarse fishing destinations, nestled within the breathtaking Wyre Forest on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border. Established in 1992 by Ed and Jane Brown, this exceptional venue has earned recognition from angling legend Matt Hayes, who considers it among the finest fisheries in the country. The fishery's natural woodland setting provides a tranquil escape from urban life, offering anglers the perfect environment to pursue their passion in stunning surroundings that change beautifully with the seasons. The fishery comprises four distinct and carefully managed pools, each offering unique fishing opportunities across a total of 74 well-maintained pegs. Mucky Meadow Pool (1.25 acres, 24 pegs) serves as the venue's most prolific water, with excellent margin fishing and consistent sport throughout the year. Furnace Pool (1.5 acres, 30 pegs) represents the main specimen water, holding impressive double-figure carp alongside quality mixed coarse stocks. Mill Pool (1 acre, 20 pegs) provides intimate fishing perfect for newcomers and pleasure anglers, while the exclusive Willow Pool offers premium fishing for lodge guests and those seeking a more secluded experience. The lakes hold exceptional stocks of quality coarse fish that will challenge anglers of all abilities. Carp range from scrappy youngsters perfect for pleasure sessions up to specimen fish reaching 25lbs, with commons, mirrors, and ghost carp all well represented. The silver fish populations are equally impressive, featuring roach to 3lbs, quality tench averaging 1-3lbs, and bream specimens exceeding 12lbs. Crucian carp provide delicate sport up to 4lbs, while chub to 4lbs offer exciting surface fishing opportunities. Golden orfe add colour and winter sport, creating diverse fishing that remains productive year-round across all pools. Furnace Mill's comprehensive facilities set it apart from typical day-ticket waters, featuring extensive free parking, modern male and female toilet facilities, and a well-stocked tackle shop carrying essential baits and terminal tackle. The popular on-site cafe serves hearty breakfasts, hot lunches, and refreshments throughout operating hours, while the unique air gun range adds an extra dimension for non-angling family members. The fishery operates Wednesday to Sunday with extended summer hours, accommodating both day sessions and pre-booked night fishing. Three pools are available for exclusive hire, making it perfect for club matches, corporate events, or groups seeking private fishing experiences in this exceptional Worcestershire venue.
